Turkey Or Eagle
by Lawton Howell
If you have watched an eagle fly... they are majestic. They soar! On the other hand, if you have been to a turkey farm, you view a bird stuck to the ground wandering around aimlessly until they become a Thanksgiving dinner or turkey sandwich for the health of it.
An eagle or turkey had little choice what they would become. It was a biological process. But, you have total control over your practice and whether it will be a turkey or a eagle.
Turkeys have a pretty safe life.... until the end nears. They get plenty of food so they become fat and plumb. In large part, they have a very lazy existence. On the other hand, eagles have to be strong and tough to find food and take care of their "family." They will soar high in the air to find their next meal. Growing stronger with each flight.
A turkey practice waits for a new patient to walk in. An eagle practice hunts down new patients everyday.
A turkey practice accepts his patient visit average.... the eagle practice keeps working on improving his PVA.
A turkey practice gobbles about collections.... the eagle practice doesn't leave a dime on the table.
You can look around and see some excellent examples of turkey practices. And, like the eagle, you will occasionally see the eagle practice.
Turkeys are plentiful. Eagles are rare.
Based on my research, less than 1% of the chiropractic practices in America are EAGLES! Most are turkeys. With some having trouble deciding which they should be.
Turkeys have low self-esteem. Eagles have passion for what they do. Turkeys spend most of their time looking for things that are wrong; while eagles spend more time identifying what is right.
It was not my intent to insult turkeys... but to encourage everyone to soar like an eagle and peak your practice. See you at the top!

Quarter Pound Fine Silver "Golden Eagle" Round
http://the-gold-market.blogspot.com This is a big silver round produced privately by the Washington Mint. It's a quarter pound, or 4 troy ounces, of silver (before I bought it I checked if it was 3 or 4 ounces, because troy pounds and standard pounds are different -- this is one quarter of a standard pound, and contains 4 ounces of silver). It is "layered" with 24 karat gold (I think layered is somewhat less commital than saying "plated" this layering is pretty thin). It's a replica of the American Double Eagle $20 coin that was minted until 1933. The same design is currently used on the officially minted high relief double eagle coins released in 2009.
People who sell these "golden eagles" may try to pass them off as officially minted giant American Eagle silver proofs or giant Double Eagle proofs, but they are not. Such coins don't exist. You can easily tell this Golden Eagle by its size (it takes up the whole palm of your hand and more), and by its lack of a face value, amongst other differences.
But it's 4 oz of silver bullion, and it's a replica not a fake. So it's still a good buy as far as silver goes. I got it for a very low premium over spot so I'm happy with it.
